EXHIBITIONS

MELTING POINT VALENCIA 2023

Extranalities is a group of jewellery artists who enjoy taking on unusual assignments. The members challenge each other to stretch the boundaries of their artistic process and practice. The inspiration for this exhibition has its roots in the mid-1990s, when Peter Vermandere strolled past the famous bookstalls alongside the Seine. There, he found a black-and-white photograph of a man and a child, draped with paper flower garlands, and thus began a lifelong obsession for collecting photographs in which jewellery played a starring role. This even involved Peter buying an entire archive of American press photos! And it is these ‘jewellery’ photos that the members of Extranalities have used for the inspiration to transform the 2D jewellery stories into new physical 3D works of jewellery: Pictureware. Participants: - Herman Hermsen (NL) - Timothy Information Limited (UK) - Peter Vermandere (BE) - Felieke van der Leest (NO) - Sofia Björkman (SE) - Denise Reytan (DE) - Sara Gackowska (PO) - Christoph Zellweger (CH) - Catarina Silva (PT) Melting Point, Valencia 2023 González Martí National Museum of Ceramics and Decorative Arts 27th of April – 28th of May Symposium 27th of April – 30th of April
